Sindur Khela, Dashami, last day of Durga Puja
Durga Puja in Kolkata, the largest festival of Bengal. According to the traditions, Goddess Durga comes to visit her parents home with her four children. On this day, the Goddess is meant to return to her husband's home and therefore all married women seen here are honouring the Goddess Durga and each other with the red powder, sindur, a sign of a Bengali married woman, before her return.
I tried to capture the moment of joy as well as a little bit of nostalgia, the colours, and the festive mood.
